Today after a six hour drive, we arrived in Rotorua! The most famous geyser, of the 65 geysers found in the Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley in Rotorua, is the awe-inspiring Pohutu Geyser, meaning big splash or explosion.

Pohutu erupts up to 30 metres (100 foot) high, depending on her mood, and is the largest active geyser in New Zealand and the southern hemisphere. There are few places in the world where geothermal phenomena such as geysers are as extensive and accessible as in Rotorua, New Zealand!!! The magnificent Pohutu was a sight well worth waiting for… enjoy the pictures!

After, we enjoyed an AMAZING dinner! Anthony of course had to try the local dessert … a cigar and beer. I guess there's a first for everything! After, we went to the Polynesian Spa where we enjoyed a thermal hot pool overlooking the beautiful view of the lake… watching the sunset at 10 PM!

Tomorrow we are off to…. THE BEAUTIFUL BEACHES for the next three days!!!

After the botanical gardens I went for some shopping before we made our way to an Irish Pub on Cuba Street for lunch where we did Karaoke! Later that evening we went to dinner on the beach, and then were back for more clubbing at night!

Wellington was a must-do!!!

Tomorrow we are off for a 6 hour drive to Rotorua to see some volcanoes!

Today was an exciting day, since we've never been on a ferry with a car!!!

We left Franz Josef Glacier early this morning for a 9 hour car ride, and a 3 hour ferry to Wellington. The drive and ferry were beautiful! The ferry was a favorite, since Anthony drove the car into the bottom of the ship and then we able to enjoy a scenic boat ride... we even saw whales from a distance!

Once we arrived, we made our way into the capital… a mini New York!!! We went to dinner on the Wharf, which is a street on the water filled with restaurants. After dinner, we made our way to Cuba Street where we went clubbing! I got to dance the night away :)

Today is one for the books! We went on the Heli Hike on Franz Josef Glacier. We got picked up this morning by helicopter, had a scenic helicopter tour, and then landed on the glacier in order for the adventure to begin! We both loved the helicopter ride!!!

Once we landed on the glacier our tour guide, lead us on a hike through the Franz Josef Glacier. It was absolutely breathtaking!!! We hiked for four hours and discovered a few small caverns and crevices , which we climbed in! We had to use crampons (boots with spikes) in order to hike through the glacier, so our steps would hold into the ice. Our instructor gave a challenge, that the person who could hike the glacier in shorts would win a prize… and of course Anthony was the only one who hiked in shorts (he was freezing)!

Overall it was an amazing experience, one that we will never forget! Tomorrow we are off on another 9 hour car ride… but this time we have to take our car with us onto the ferry that connects New Zealand's South and North Islands as we are off to Wellington!

Enjoy the pictures,

Nicole
