Here I am, cherishing all our sweet and unforgettable memories.  "Life is short, live it.  Love is rare, grab it.  Anger is bad, dump it.  Fear is awful, face it.  Memories are sweet, cherish it."  Today was a unique day in Tasmania as we hiked two hours to get to the famous Wine Glass Bay, recognized as one of the world's most beautiful beaches.

Wow, were we awestruck.  This is our type of paradise... the ocean, the sand between our toes, and a nice refreshing drink to talk and relax with.  Earlier this trip, as you may have seen in our previous blog, we went wine tasting!  So, we decided to buy our favorite wine at Devil's Corner Winery to bring to Wine Glass Bay!  Many of the hikers laughed and said they wish they would have brought wine to Wine Glass Bay!  We enjoyed another beautiful day in paradise!  We were in for another surprise as our little Kangaroo friends came onto the beach to relax with us too!  What an experience it is to be on the beach, and be able to play with the Kangaroos!

THESE MEMORIES ARE UNFORGETABLE

LIFE IS GOOD

“When your life flashes before your eyes, make sure you’ve got plenty to watch.”

Tasmania had even more to offer as we got to explore and discover!
Along our drive to Georgetown, Tasmania we made a pit-stop at the famous Bridestowe Lavender Estate! What a beautiful site it was to admire and soak up the lushes lavender flowers that covered the fields, the tall green mountains seen in the distance, and most importantly the bright blue sky.  It makes you realize that the world is beautiful, and nature is filled with the most unexpected surprises.

After visiting the Bridestowe Lavender Estate, we finally made our way up to Georgetown, Tasmania where we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon sitting a long the sea side, enjoying a cold, refreshing, and much needed James Boags Beer.  Once the sun began to set we made our way onto the beach, eager to see the little penguins come out of the ocean and make their way onto land for the night.  We were able to have a unique nature experience as we were able to get up close and personal with Little Blue Penguins, as they returned from the pristine waters of the Bass Strait (the sea to the north of Tasmania) to nest in their burrows.  The Little Penguins are the smallest species in the world who breed in colonies along the southern coast of Australia!

What an incredible experience this was, as we got to be up close and personal with our new little friends!  It is incredible to watch how beautiful these little creatures interact with one another, they are soul mates for life!  The male Little Penguins build their burrows (homes) in order to impress the females.  Once the burrow has been built, the male penguins begin to sing in unison in order to attract the female penguins.  After the females have selected their mates, based on how they liked the burrows, they are soul mates for life.  Meaning they will have children with only one another, and never mate with another penguin.  Even if the male or female penguin dies, they will never search for another mate!  It was adorable to watch the families of these penguins interact.  We were so lucky, to even be able to take photos and record lots of film!  It is very rare that you are allowed to take photos, but we were able to take photos only without the flash.  As I'm sure you have noticed, the orange light on the penguins  is the only light allowed.  We had a great time!!!

Stay Tuned,

Nicole
