SHARK WEEK LIVE FROM AUSTRALIA

"We will talk about this memory for the rest of our lives"

G'DAY MATES WE DID IT!

WE SURVIVED DIVING WITH
THE GREAT WHITES

It is very rare a person is able to go diving with the Great Whites.

South Africa, Guadalupe Island and the Neptune Islands in South Australia are the only locations that offer people the chance to take the plunge and go diving with the Great Whites!

We are addicts when it comes to watching Shark Week on discovery channel.  Every year we spend every chance we get watching Shark Week, terrified of these vicious monsters! Often resulting in my little brother, Christopher, having nightmares for weeks!

Once our dream of coming to Australia came true, we decided we had to get into the water and face the Great Whites.

If you have known me since I was a little girl you probably already know what my biggest fear is a Great White!

Today was a day filled with mixed emotions! I was finally going to get into the open waters of Australia and come face to face with my biggest fear. While I was filled with fear and terror, I was also filled with excitement! Who would have thought Nicole and Anthony would be coming face to face with a Great White, after all these years of watching Shark Week together.

If you could have asked Anthony how he felt today he wouldn't have hesitated to say how excited he was to finally see a Great White in person!

But ... he would have also probably said that he was terrified, since he made a pinky promise to my mom two years ago! She said, "no matter what crazy or adventurous things you both decide to do, do not get into Great White infested waters with Nicole!"  It is safe to say they made this pinky promise a good twenty times before Anthony and I stepped foot into Miami International Airport with our bags ready to go.  Sorry Mom!

So here were are, on a boat getting ready to depart on a six hour boat ride from Port Lincoln to South Australia's famous Neptune Islands

We were informed to start taking Ginger Tablets (to combat sea sickness) a week prior, but we laughed and said, how bad can the boat ride really be! Well, no one informed us we would be on a boat fighting 12 - 15 foot waves!

YES HERE WE WERE ON A BOAT FIGHTING 12 TO 15 FOOT WAVES FOR SIX HOURS (three hours out & three hours in)!

Lets just say we got a little sea sick, and maybe some of you will have the privilege to see these funny videos one day! Once we took the Ginger Tablets on board we were good as new by the time we arrived to the Neptune Islands!

Once we arrived at our destination we were given wet suits, masks and oxygen tanks. We were then given a safety demonstration about the cage we were just about to get submerged with the Great Whites in. After we got ready the crew began chumming the water, and within minutes a MASSIVE Great White ripped apart the Tuna!

What a site that was (we will be posting videos soon).

Our bodies were full of fear, excitement and most of all adrenaline! We were ready to go hand in hand to face this massive monster!

The first moments inside the cage were terrifying. The cage was completely submerged underwater and we were breathing solely from oxygen tanks. The cage was constantly swinging because of the ocean waves and we were surrounded by Great Whites! We saw a total of six great whites ranging from 12 to 18 feet!

THEY WERE MASSIVE.

One of the scariest moments we had, which we laugh at now, was when the Great White charged straight into the cage!

The crew decided to throw the bait directly in front of the cage, resulting in the Great White swimming straight into our cage! We have footage of that and instantly we both feel to the bottom of the cage from the force (we will post it soon)!

Once again we were able to check off a major item off the bucket list.

We will be talking about this memory FOREVER!

WE DID IT TOGETHER.

Thank you PORT LINCOLN, AUSTRALIA for making our dream come true.  This will be a memory we are still talking about fifty years from now!

With Lots Love From the Crazy Survivors,

Nicole & Anthony
