Ferry Ride to Wellington, New Zealand
THE CROSSING

January 27, 2013

"Getting to the Ferry Crossing in Picton"
"The Ships Name"

"Driving the Car Into the Ship"

"Wellington"

"LOVE this city"
"Having dinner on the Wharf"
"Look what Anthony found!"
"Dancing the night away!!!"

Today was an exciting day, since we've never been on a ferry with a car!!!

We left Franz Josef Glacier early this morning for a 9 hour car ride, and a 3 hour ferry to Wellington. The drive and ferry were beautiful! The ferry was a favorite, since Anthony drove the car into the bottom of the ship and then we able to enjoy a scenic boat ride... we even saw whales from a distance!

Once we arrived, we made our way into the capital… a mini New York!!! We went to dinner on the Wharf, which is a street on the water filled with restaurants. After dinner, we made our way to Cuba Street where we went clubbing! I got to dance the night away :)

  2. I have read that Wellington is the coolest little capital in the world, and by looking at your pictures and reading to what you have to say it certainly looks like it is.
Then I was curious to know why that street was named Cuba Street, and I found out that it was named after an early (1840) settler ship to New Zealand, the "Cuba".

You are not only taking me to incredible places in this adventure, but it is being a learning experience as well.
