Brighton Beach is our favorite beach so far!

Brighton Beach located in Victoria, Australia was named after Brighton in England. Brighton Beach features 82 colorful bathing boxes, uniform in size and build and have a regular arrangement along the beach. Each bathing box is unique in its' color and design. These colorful boxes create a wonderful atmosphere, along with the amazing crystal blue waters of Australia. I had a lot of fun walking by each bathing box and seeing the differences in colors and designs. My two favorite bathing boxes were the ones painted as a kangaroo and as the Australian flag.

We enjoyed a wonderful day at the beach! The life savers were in training as they are trained to help individuals in trouble and check the waters for sharks. They are dressed in yellow and red, and you may spot a yellow and red helicopter flying over the waters. These helicopters are on the look out for sharks! Although they are on the look out, Melbourne has a very low shark rate. While other parts of Australia, have a high shark rate. We love this part about Australia, there are so many more animals that we would never encounter in America! And… we both went for a nice swim! The water was bright blue and extremely refreshing!

Brighton Beach has been our favorite beach so far, and I am in love with all the different little bathing houses!

Bellow is the History of the Australia flag from the Australia National Flag Association, if you scroll up you will see me posing in front of the bathing box painted like the flag.

National Flag features the five stars of the constellation of the Southern Cross and the Commonwealth Star, and the combined crosses of St George, St Andrew and St Patrick. The union of crosses represents Australia’s early settlers. The Commonwealth Star with its seven points represents the unity of the six Australian states and the seventh point stands for all Australian Territories. Under the Flags Act of 1953, passed unanimously by parliament, it was confirmed that our "Stars and Crosses" design be the chief national symbol by law, custom and tradition and that it be honoured with the title "Australian National Flag". The new status of the national flag was emphasized when the act of parliament received royal assent from Queen Elizabeth II, on Her Majesty’s visit to Australia in 1954. The Australian rules of flag etiquette are designed to ensure that the national flag is displayed with the dignity befitting its status.

The Australian National Flag identifies a free and democratic people in a nation united in purpose. Our national flag belongs equally to all Australians whatever their origins. Each of the symbols on the flag has a special meaning for Australians. The stars of the Southern Cross represent our geographic position in the Southern Hemisphere; the Commonwealth star stands for our federation of States and Territories; the Crosses represent the principles on which our nation is based, namely, parliamentary democracy, rule of law and freedom of speech.

In 1996 the Governor-General, Sir William Deane, proclaimed 3rd September as Australian National Flag Day, to commemorate the day in 1901 on which our national flag of "Stars and Crosses" was first flown. It is the right and privilege of every Australian to fly the Australian National Flag.

Stay Tuned and We Wish You a Happy Valentines Day!

XOXO,

Nicole

  1. I really enjoy the view of all the colorful bathing boxes. It gives a very picturesque and different beach atmosphere from our Florida beaches.

It's very interesting everything that you explain about the Australian National Flag. I'm certainly learning a lot in this Nemo's Great Adventure.

Happy Valentine's Day to both of you too, but you celebrated it already...
As I said you needed to have a double celebration - an Australian Valentine and then today an American Valentine :)

    Love,
