OFF TO SEE THE SHIRE!

What an amazing day! We got up nice and early and drove from Hamilton to a small outskirt town called Matamata. This town is mostly made up of farms and sheep herders, which is what one lucky family ended up making their living off of. When Peter Jackson saw the little farm of the Alexander Family he knew that this was the only place in the whole world to make the perfect village of Hobbiton. With rolling hills and beautiful green grass is was a "no-brainer" to make the set here. When we arrived at Hobbiton we were greeted with a nice breakfast, which in there case was already "second breakfast" for Hobbits.

We took a short bus ride to the village through the sheep farm and were amazed at how beautiful the farm was. As we went through the Shire we saw all the Hobbit holes just like in the movie and the Books (Anthony of course had to read them before). We made stops at Bag end, the famous house of Bilbo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee's house, and even our own little hobbit hole. After a nice visit to the party field (where we got amazing views of the whole shire) we headed off the the local hobbit pub "the Green Dragon". We enjoyed a few beers brewed only for Hobbiton, which were amazing! After that we finally were able to relax and have a quick "Elevensees" (which is a meal right before lunch). After that we then finally got on the road to Auckland!

STAY TUNED,

Nicole

Enjoy the pictures!!!!

  1. Very Picturesque outing!
I am sure this location allowed you to dream away and become a hobbit for a day.
Is that a real bee ducking in the beautiful white flower?
Anthony, you have so many amazing photographs that you may want to exhibit them for public view.

    Love you both,
    Baba
