TAMAN AYUN TEMPLE MENGWI, BALI

Enjoy our amazing breakfast on our patio & the Taman Ayun Temple!

" The Offerings "

Taman Ayun Temple in Mengwi

Bali is known as the land with a thousand temples.

Good morning from our villa. After the sunrise yoga, at the Yoga Barn, we enjoyed yet another delicious breakfast on our villa patio. This time we were able to wear our rice hats (a common asset to the Balian wardrobe - due to their rice terraces), while sipping on the hot and sweet Balian coffee. This coffee, I swear, is absolutely full with such tasty flavor! After being rejuvenated after the sunrise yoga, our mindset for the day already set on peace mode, we were ready to pack our bags and head up to a new place in Bali. This time we were going to enjoy the BEACHES of Bali … Nusa Dua (known for Bali's whitest beaches)! Ahh… now how much better can this get?

Once our driver picked us up, we were ready for our two hour car ride to Nusa Dua. Along the way we stopped at a gorgeous temple, the Taman Ayun Temple in Mengwi.

This beautiful temple is also known as the Royal Temple of the Mengwi Empire, located in Mengwi Village. Taman Ayun translates as " beautiful garden " and is regarded as one of the most attractive temples of Bali.

Pura Taman Ayun is a family temple and was built in 1634 by Raja of Mengwi & Gusti Agung Putu.

We specifically enjoyed this temple tremendously, for its unique greenery. In addition we were able to absorb more of Bali's traditional customs. We were required to wear a sarong before entering the temple (as you may have noticed in the pictures above).

A Sarong - is a garment consisting of a length of printed cloth wrapped about the waist that is worn by men and women in Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Pacific islands.

We enjoyed an amazing cultural experience at this beautiful and peaceful temple.
