THE CLIMB: OCEANIA'S NATURAL WONDER

...

G'day From the Top of Uluru

As the previous blog mentioned, Ayers Rock is 348 meters high (a 95 story building) and is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Oceania.  The path is extremely steep & treacherous, but it has a chain for climbers to use as a guide (you may have noticed in the pictures above). We were lucky to be able to climb this Oceanian Wonder since it had previously been closed due to fatalities, extreme winds and temperature. It was reopened when they installed the chains to hold while climbing, but still close the climb when it's too windy. The climb was open for us, we went on a PERFECT day!

It was an extremely beautiful trek as we hiked up and enjoyed the beauty of the massive bright orange rock. The view of the surrounding Outback was stunning as you were able to see for miles in every direction.

The hike itself was quite treacherous and it took us four water bottles and about three hours to complete. We enjoyed the adventure of walking up the steep rock using the chain to help pull us along and then following the white path marks at the top, leading us to the center.  Once we reached the top and center of Uluru Rock we could see for miles and despite the blazing sun, the breeze felt incredible!  It was an emotional and humbling moment shared together.  There we were so far from our hometown, standing on Oceania's Natural Wonder enjoying a refreshing breeze while absorbing the beauty of the world surrounding us.

There we were, four years later, standing on top of the Outback.

The World Is Beautiful!

Lots of Love,

Nicole & Anthony

P.S. stay tuned for the amazing sunset!
